2021 Annual Farmers & Friends Wrap-Up

Ending Racism & Injustice in the Food System.

At this year’s virtual Annual Farmers & Friends Meeting on February 24th, Soul Fire Farm‘s Leah Penniman presented a compelling keynote describing the deep roots of racism and social inequity in America’s agricultural history. The follow-up discussion with Leah was fantastic; we all felt inspired.

Technical difficulties plagued our afternoon conversation with four exceptional voices in Kansas City’s farming and gardening community. We have re-recorded a discussion with these dynamic experts and will be broadcasting the video. We will also be sharing the supplemental booklet which will include articles, recipes and other contributions from local growers, researchers and artists. If you purchased one, you will receive the virtual version in your inbox soon. If you didn’t and are still interested, don’t worry. You’ll still be able to purchase one!

Cultivate KC is committed to continuing these conversations, which can lead toward actions and changes critical and crucial to growing food, farms and community for all. We hope you’ll join us.
