2024 Annual Farmers & Friends Meeting

Did you attend the 2024 Annual Farmers & Friends Meeting on Saturday, February 17th? THANK YOU for being a part of the day. Did you miss it? No worries- you can visit all the links and view the recorded presentations below.

AFFM was planned and hosted by Cultivate KC, in partnership with Groundwork NRG, KC Healthy Kids, Kansas City Black Urban Growers, Kansas City Community Gardens, Kansas State University’s Urban Food Systems Initiative, Miami County Conservation District, The Kansas City Food Hub, and community volunteers. What a pleasure it was to share space, pizza, pie, and ideas with so many amazing folks. Our team is still basking in the glow that this event always delivers. We hope everyone found valuable resources, new connections or collaborators, and a renewed sense of belonging and inspiration in our local food system!

  • Watch poet Miguel M. Morales address his experience growing up as a farmworker and closing remarks by Dina Newman of Kansas City Black Urban Growers HERE. Don’t miss this – it’s quite powerful.
  • Post on and learn from the AFFM Community Bulletin Board, an announcement board to share information about upcoming projects, events, and resources.
  • Farmers, be sure to fill out the 5 minute Urban Ag Counts! survey. Accurate representation of area growers helps Cultivate KC and its partners better assist farmers in the KC metro and allows us all to better communicate the importance of urban agriculture to legislators, grant funders, government agencies, and more.
  • Enjoy the digital version the the 2024 AFFM Zine.
  • Join our general or farmer-focused email list (scroll to the bottom of each page to sign up) to receive news about future events and opportunities to advocate.
