BCS Walk Behind Tractor Borrowing Program
Cultivate KC’s BCS Borrowing Program allows KC area growers access to a walk behind tractor for various farm projects for a low price. Please read the below instructions, stipulations, and options before completing the request form.
Borrowing Instructions:
- Apply to borrow the BCS through our BCS Request Form. Once we have determined the correct attachment and option for borrowing
- Coordinate pick-up and drop-off dates with tool library manager.
- Sign liability waiver.
- Complete a thorough inspection of the BCS with the tool library manager before borrowing to ensure the tool is in good working condition.
- All borrowers undergo 15–30-minute orientation with the tool library manager before borrowing, regardless of experience.
- Upon returning BCS, tool library manager will complete an exit inspection to ensure tool is in good working condition. If operating solo, the borrower will be held responsible for any damages that are incurred during their borrowing period.
Stipulations
Only one attachment may be borrowed at a time. Available attachments: rotary plow, tiller, or flail mower.
Cultivate KC reserves the right to terminate usage if the ground is unsuitable for working. For example, if there is rubble or other obstructions in the soil that could damage the BCS.
To borrow without Cultivate KC supervision, borrowers must either meet a minimum requirement of 5 hours’ experience operating this machine or attend a Cultivate KC training day.

Borrowing Options

Option 1 – Cultivate KC staff delivers and operates the BCS
- $50 per hour.
- 4-hour maximum.
- ¼ acre size limit.
- Must be within a 15-mile perimeter of Juniper Gardens Training Farm (100 Richmond Ave, KCK).

Option 2 – Cultivate KC staff delivers, borrower operates machine for maximum of 4 days.
- $100 delivery fee
- $100 refundable deposit.
- Borrower must have secure, covered, and locked storage.
- Borrower must have prior participation in BCS Bootcamp or have a minimum 5 hours of experience operating BCS.
- Must be within a 15-mile perimeter of Juniper Gardens Training Farm (100 Richmond Ave, KCK).

Option 3 – Borrower picks up BCS from Cultivate KC and operates BCS independently for a maximum of 4 days.
- $10 Gas fee
- $100 refundable deposit.
- Borrower must have secure, covered, and locked storage
- Borrower much have appropriate vehicle for transportation.
- Borrower must have prior participation in BCS Bootcamp or have a minimum 5 hours of experience operating BCS.
