Cultivate KC Attends Annual Mobile Market Summit

Cultivate KC’s Food Access Program Manager, Lauren Weinberg and Dotte Mobile Driver, Jermaine Stillman attended the 6th Annual Mobile Market Summit on March 19th and 20th in Phoenix, Arizona. The 2024 summit was co-hosted by the Mobile Market Coalition and Activate Food Arizona. 

The theme for this year’s event was “Vehicles for Food System Transformation” and the two-day summit was kicked-off with a keynote address from Adrienne Udarbe, Executive Director at Arizona based non-profit, Pinnacle Prevention. Udarbe recognized the essential role that food plays in fostering community, connection, and healing. Sharing these conversations through a trauma-informed lens provoked meaningful discussion around the presence of mobile markets within our communities.  

Interacting with fellow attendees was a highlight of the summit; networking with peers, exchanging ideas, and forging new connections was invaluable. One particularly energizing session, known as the Brag Bash, showcased the successes of Mobile Market programs from coast-to-coast. Presenters conveyed their initiatives while expressing a collective commitment to building a resilient food system where everyone has access to healthy food.  

In addition to the Brag Bash, Jermaine and Lauren participated in the following sessions including How it Started, How’s it Going: The Changing Landscape of New Mobile Markets, Collaborating for Impact along the Food Justice Continuum, Innovations in Mobile Markets: New Populations, Pricing & Prescription Programs, Using Policy and Advocacy to Mobilize Food Systems Transformation, and MORE!  

Our Dotte Mobile Grocer team is continuing to feel the ripples of inspiration from this year’s Mobile Market Summit while growing their program and partnerships in Wyandotte County. Big thanks to the Mobile Market Coalition and Activate Food Arizona for hosting an educational and fun event!
