Delivering fresh produce to seniors for Thanksgiving

On Wednesday, November 19th, Cultivate KC packed more than 100 Senior Market Match Thanksgiving produce boxes with locally sourced and seasonal produce from The KC Food Hub that included:

• Acorn, Delicata or Butternut Squash and Fuji apples from JET Produce and Meats
• Tomatoes from Vernon County Produce and Green Gate Family Farm
• Green bell peppers from Green Gate Family Farm and Mellowfields Farm
• Salad greens or Swiss chard from Mellowfields Farm
• Radishes from Green Thumbs Up
• Sweet potatoes from Red Ridge Farm’s Flavor Market
• Sage & Rosemary from Cultivate KC’s Westport Commons Farm

The boxes were distributed to seniors at Don Bosco Center for Seniors and The Shepherd’s Center of KCK as part of Cultivate KC’s food access programs. The opportunity was made possible with assistance from Menorah Heritage Foundation and Village Presbyterian.
