Plant Propagation

The first Growing Growers workshop of the 2019 season is here!

Come visit the greenhouses at K-State’s Olathe Horticulture Center, a scenic 342-acre site dedicate to applied research of fruit and vegetable production.

Presentations and hands-on activity will cover the basics of starting crops from seed and other plant parts.

Growing Vegetable Transplants w/ Cary Rivard
Cary Rivard, PhD Vegetable Extension Specialist from Kansas State University, will address transplant production options, seed starting and tomato plant grafting.

5:15-6:00 pm
Greenhouse Management w/ Paul Andersen
Paul Andersen, Research Technician, will review his crop planning strategies from multiple years of experience managing the Reseach Center’s greenhouse.

6:15-7:00 pm
Vegetative Propagation w/ Zac Hoppenstedt
Zac Hoppenstedt, Johnson County Horticulture Extension Agent, will discuss vegetative propagation and options for growing sweetpotato transplants.
