Season Extension: Low Tunnels

Longfellow Farm Workshop Series

Cultivate KC is teaming up with Longfellow Farm this summer to continue some work from our former Westport Commons Farm site which was supported by a USDA Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production grant. Through September, Cultivate KC will provide on-farm production support, host monthly hands-on workshops for the community, and will facilitate building a washstand and chicken coop on the community farm. Excess produce from this site will be donated to community partners. 

In this workshop, come learn from Mark Gawron about different models of low tunnels and how they can be used to extend your growing season, protect from pests, and grow healthier plants. We will also discuss the Natural Resources Conservation Service EQIP program that can provide cost-share payments to assist with this important growing practices.
