The Happiest of Happy Hours in Quite Awhile

Midtown Hoedown, presented by Black & Veatch, was September 13th at Longfellow Farm, and BOY HOWDY, it was fun! As the shade spread across the green and the heat of the day finally retreated, guests came to dance. Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove started the evening off on the right (stinky) foot and was followed by Halfsider playing their old time string music with called folk dancing.
We had just shy of 300 people of all ages, and between dances, there was something for everyone. The food and drinks were delicious. We had fantastic raffle and costume prizes. Folks were entertained by the petting zoo, games, face painting, caricatures, educational booths, Chicken Sh*t Bingo, and a craft table staffed by the BEST volunteers from the KC Public Library – Plaza Branch‘s Teen Leaders of Today.
Thank you to our partners Thelmas’s Kitchen, Lulu’s Thai Noodle Shop, High Hopes Ice Cream, Boulevard Brewing, Tito’s Vodka, and KC Soda Co. Thank you to everyone who sponsored, volunteered, donated items for the raffles, and partnered with us to make this party another wild success. And to everyone who put on their best bib and tucker and came out to do-si-do – YEE HAW! That was an amazing way to celebrate farmers and food and raise money in support of our mission!
This project is supported in part by the City of Kansas City, Missouri Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund.
HUGE THANKS to our sponsors:
