Find Your Market: Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs)

This event series is hosted in collaboration by Cultivate KC and the KC F.A.R.M.E.R.S. Coalition.

The Find Your Market series is geared toward beginning farmers who are looking for right kind of sales channel for their farm and want to explore their options. Each free session will explore the dynamics of a particular sales channel in the KC area, offer practical advice for beginning farmers, discuss benefits & drawbacks, and feature farmer perspectives.

The first session will explore Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs), including:

• What are all the moving parts of a CSA? How do they work?

• How does a cooperative CSA work?

• How do you know you’re ready to make the leap?

• How do you decide what to grow?

• How do the financials work?

• How do you get customers?

Expect a brief instructional presentation followed by a roundtable discussion made up of farmers who manage or contribute to a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Time built-in for small group discussion and Q&A.
